Hey Clara, I literally feel like this is the most helpful and insightful information about how to approach Instagram Iβve ever read!! Thank you so much for taking the time to write it π really love your content, so beautifully put together and inspiring. Wishing you continued success βΊοΈπ
the algorithm might not intentionally be working against us, but as an interdisciplinary artist who could once post her actual work and have it be seen, there hasnβt been a chance in a hot minute to get any interaction except if i include my face in the post, or if someone with huge reach reposts my work. and frankly, making my page about my face is hugely off-putting to many professionals in the art field who want to work with artists, not influencers. itβs been a huge struggle reaching beyond my core group of die-hard fans, and most of the time even with them, just 10% of them seem to be shown what i put out there.
argh. well, end of rant. i gotta go touch some grass (literally).
Unfortunately, these platforms have to change in order to keep up with competitors, itβs just the name of the game. I understand your frustration as Iβve heard it from so many photographer friends whose reach has plummeted. I wonder if thereβs a way for you to find a compromise between doing the thing that literally makes you crawl out of your skin, and just straight posting your work. Thereβs gotta be something you havenβt thought of, I think maybe you could just spend some time collecting posts of other artists that are performing well and that you donβt hate. Might help inspire some ideas on what type of content to make β€οΈπ« hang in there!
Hey Clara! Thanks for the breakdown, I found it really helpful. Iβm a long time IG follower, I really havenβt found your latest posts cringe at all. If anything I get to see you more now (yay!) and I feel like I have a larger view into your life (Iβm just trying to describe a feeling, I know there is so much more to you) but it feels fuller in a nice way. π congrats on the larger audience and more financial sales, well deserved.
Thank you so much Jess!! Really appreciate the positive feedback, Iβm glad what Iβm doing is something you enjoy seeing. When youβre so close to your own work, itβs hard to know what the response will be
Clara, Iβve been a longtime Instagram follower, so Iβm delighted to run into your work here! I think itβs wonderful to be able to see different sides of you, your style and your work. Loving the evolutionβkeep going!
Hi Kristy! I import my footage onto my computer and clip the videos into smaller clips using QuickTime (which is my default video player on Mac) and then airdrop the smaller clips onto my phone and use CapCut to edit. Instagram is meant to be releasing Edits, a new app for editing videos, this month and itβs meant to be really good!

What software do you edit reels on? Do you edit on your computer first? Thanks!
