Vintage french nighties on vinted
I promised you this post so here it is! The first thing I was to disclose about buying vintage on vinted is that it’s always going to be a bit of a gamble. If you’re planning on spending any significant amount of coin on a piece, ask for measurements! Take those measurements and measure them against one of your best fitting garments so you can get an idea of how this will fit on you.
What I love about these vintage nighties is that they are a massive source of inspiration for most of my favorite brands. Doen, Rudy Jude, and many others are copying these styles really beautifully. I have found and purchased many of these pieces over the years so here are some things to note: a lot of these are antiques dating as far back as the early 1900’s and sometimes have the original owner’s initials embroidered into them, they are made from thick cotton or linen fabric, sizing is super subjective (ASK FOR MEASUREMENTS!), they are hardly ever in perfect condition but that is sort of the beauty of them.
I included some newer pieces in this list, if you’re interested in searching for these yourselves, use keywords such as “nuisette” (nightie), “chemise de nuit” (nightgown), “pijama” (pyjama), “ancien” (antique), vintage, “Coton” (cotton), “lin” (linen), “dentelle” (lace) and “brodé” (embroidered). I like to use french search terms because vinted’s AI sometimes butchers translations.
Anyway, here are some of my favorites at the moment (click on the photo to get to the product page on vinted)
